|| Background: || An orphaned lower class child, Heero was brought up under the strict guardianship of rebel sympathizer Dr.J. Heero Yuy's life has been for one goal- the breakdown of the rigid class divisions. Dr.J trained him to be a quick fighter, thinker, and problem solver, never letting a day go by without saying "one day you will be the perfect soldier." Unbeknownst to him, Dr.J and a small group of like-minded radicals had plans to lead Heero's generation into full-fleged class warefare, but their operation was cut unexpectedly short. At least Dr.J's involvement was-- he was gunned down down by the military during the last large scale riot. Heero was suddenly alone with no direction.

A year later Heero met Duo Maxwell, another product of the previous generation's grasp at disorder, and the two became friends. Duo, being similarly distrustful of conflict, has given up his mentor's mission for the time being. The two have decided to watch the military for now, to see for themselves if the situation in the society was decadent enough to warrant revolution.

Heero remains in close proximity to the military. He is employed as a janitor in one of the the Sky City's military bases, in the process of infiltrating higher in the military ranks, gathering what information he can about alleged "oppression." It is this way he was able to experience the differences from the three levels- the underworld refuge of his childhood, the restricted and controlled middle-class lifestyle of his adolecent years, and as an adult now witnessing the opulance and excess of the upper class. He and Duo run a widly-read underground newspaper under the pennames WingZero and Shinigami.
